Feadship joins Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization
Feadship has joined the Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization (NEMO), a collective working to establish fair and effective regulations for floating nuclear power.
This step builds on Feadship’s 2020 energy transition roadmap, which sets out the shipyard’s pioneering path toward carbon-neutral yachting. Alongside advances such as multi-fuel systems and fuel cells, Feadship continues to explore longer-term technologies that could reshape the industry.
Nuclear propulsion for yachts remains a distant prospect, with significant technical, economic and regulatory hurdles still to overcome. By participating in NEMO, Feadship contributes to shaping the frameworks that may one day make such innovation possible.
“Yachting has always been about pioneering the future of technology at sea,” says Giedo Loeff, Head of Innovation and Strategy. “Nuclear power may not be tomorrow’s solution for superyachts, but it could be part of the long-term horizon – and it is our responsibility to help shape that possibility in a safe and sustainable way.”
