Classic cars meet vintage Feadships

Around seventy members and friends of the Feadship Heritage Fleet came together on the Côte d’Azur for the biennial Historic Grand Prix of Monaco. The eleventh edition of this epic classic car event takes place two weeks before the Formula 1 drivers tackle the unrivalled twists and bends of the iconic Principality road-race course.

A group from the Netherlands flew out on Friday to join the rest of the party, with two wonderful Wajer boats making the trip from Nice harbour to Monaco. Awaiting them in the famous harbour were six Feadships which call this part of the Mediterranean their home. Four of them (Alhambra, Heavenly Daze, Najade and Sultana) served as hosts, providing a lovely lunch on board during the day of the race and giving people the chance to watch the historic cars from some equally historic yachts.

The weather was superb and, in addition to seeing the fantastic cars roaring around the track, the FHF party also had the chance to view them up close and personal in a special area of the course. On Saturday evening all the guests went to a special dinner party at Cap D’Ail, and the weekend was nicely rounded off on the Sunday with a tour of the Rothschild Villa and a lovely lunch in Villefranche-sur-Mer.

“This occasion has been a great opportunity for the FHF family to come together and share their appreciation of Feadship and the rich legacy of the racing car world,” says Arthur van Berge Henegouwen.  “It was a real pleasure to see people telling their stories and enjoying each other’s company as well as the events. We were also delighted to welcome Monaco Marine as a new official sponsor of the Feadship Heritage Fleet and this event – the bubbles they provided went down very well indeed!”

The next gathering of the FHF will be at the annual rendezvous from 20 to 22 July. Members looking for more information about this exciting event in the Netherlands can contact info@feadshipheritagefleet.nl.
