Always a Lady: Classic Feadship Monaco for Sale

Monaco is a 37.95-metre classic Feadship with naval architecture and elegant exterior lines by Studio De Voogt and interior design by Terence Disdale Design that was launched as Arkan in 1981. After being with her current owners for the past fifteen years, she is now for sale and looking for new caring owners.

The owners approached Feadship to ask us if we would help with the sale directly because we know the boat inside out,” says Arjen van Elk, Sales Director at Feadship. “We haven’t done this before, but we discussed it at length and I took up the challenge on behalf of the sales team.”

Impeccably maintained for the past forty years, Monaco has lost none of her authentic character. The only addition to her vintage lines is a swim platform and aft stairs for easier access to the sea, which add modern utility to the original design. During a refit in 2016, she had a full exterior repaint, new generators and the Caterpillar D348 main engines were rebuilt to bring them back to zero hours. With a top speed of 15 knots, she can cruise comfortably at 10 knots.

The interior features lots of varnished mahogany with cream and navy carpeting for a traditional maritime feel. In addition to the customary interior lounges and open-air deck spaces you would expect to find on a trideck yacht of her generation, she has a cosy observation sofa on the foredeck and a small sunpad on top of the wheelhouse.

But arguably the main draw of the layout is the 8-person accommodation comprising an owner’s stateroom in main deck along with a VIP suite – effectively a second master stateroom – and two other guest suites on the lower deck. By resisting the temptation to add a fifth guestroom this means all the suites are generously sized and very comfortable – just one reason why Monaco has proved a popular charter vessel. There is also accommodation for up to seven crew members.

"Maintained in peak condition with all-original parts, Monaco has given her owners many years of cruising pleasure,” says Van Elk. "Now it’s time for someone else with an appreciation for heritage and quality to step in and continue to care for this classic Feadship.” Monaco is based in Port Vell, Barcelona.
