Upon taking delivery of the 35.42m Jardell in August 1970, her delighted owner immediately decided to have a larger yacht built. Built under the name Jardell II, she was immediately renamed Big R at her delivery in September 1973. This new 45.00m yacht was equipped with the very latest technology, including Vosper stabilizer fins, a bow thruster, and - a first for Feadship - a satellite navigation system.
